If you want so badly to make your main cast full of unattractive characters, why do they always gotta be THE ONLY men besides the MC? Why are they never ladies? Why all the ladies are ALWAYS attractive? Even the female monsters are drawn closer to human beauty standards than the male ones. Does that make any sense? How are these beautiful ladies (because even random ladies with one line of speech are drawn prettily) having kids and all their daughters are God's favorite creation but their sons are unsightly ugly??

I wouldn't mind the ugly ass male characters (some aren't even actually UGLY, just not made with the intention of being attractive, I'm just mad), if it wasn't so clearly two different art styles. When that happens it always feels like "our female characters are meant to be sexualized and lusted for" male characters are never treated like this because MEN are never treated like this and, as a piece of media, it's so uninviting, it's like, at the same time, it is also telling me that "this comic is not for your enjoyment, unless you are going to be complicit with this mentality".
Feels very much like an unsafe space, no matter how good the plot is, the art is a constant reminder that I'm not welcomed to read.
i 100% agree with you (especially the last paragraph), it's why i've given up on reading most non-yaoi manga/hwa/hua these days. the story seems great, there are a cast of unique male characters, and then the female characters are introduced and oh. okay. they all have beautiful BLONDE hair and BLUE eyes (there's ALWAYS a blonde blue eyed beauty which,, hitler much?) or conventionally attractive features that conform to european or east asian beauty standards. they're big boobed, thick thighed but very small waisted. and then ALL of them are like that! even a little bit of muscle on an apparently knight/paladin woman is very rare! they're all thin, light skinned beautiful big boobied women and you can't find any meaningful differences in their personalities either.
i can't read about women in fiction written by men anymore. they way the women are all blushing maiden virgins who always conform to beauty standards feels so tiring. it's so removed from reality. i know women in real life, and it's so obvious that the men writing these women either don't interact with women irl or don't care to portray them in a light that's anything other than "fuckable" to them. women in fiction don't need to have interesting, varying appearance and personalities because the men writing them don't care and think about women as people. they're always fap material first, then a "wahmen " and *then* a person. that's why all the male characters get interesting looks, fun and intriguing personalities, motives etc. THEY are the vessel for all these traits. while the women have only one job: be there, be quiet, and look pretty, occasionally show some boobies.
ugh i know i'm yapping a lot but the main takeaway is that the male characters are always so cool is because they're the self insert for the writers who are mostly men, while the female characters are one dimensional pretty sex dolls because that's what these cishet men find attractive. as such, you will not find a well written woman with interesting appearance and personality and who's treated as a person first as long as you are reading any media made by cishet men. which is unfortunate because they are the most prominent group who make content with female characters. if you read media written by queer people however, especially sapphics, you will see your frustrations echoed in their writings! queer people are also generally better at portraying women as humans first and not reducing them to their genitalia.

Though honestly even if this was two legal adults some still dislike age gap relationships me I'd find myself a hypocrite because I love vampire relationships and if I'm ok with a hundred yr old guy liking a 20 yr old then what's up with me judging an 11 yr gap? Or what if it was a god who's over a million but loves someone 20 have you ever liked a story like that? Or what if the character was a vampire stuck in a child's body forever are they never supposed to find love? Or only love children? Then wouldn't that be pedo? What about transmigration stories or time reversals? An example would be A 30 yr old women reincarnated into a baby in another universe or finding herself in the body of a child in another universe then aging up and then are you never supposed to love at this point? Or do they wait till there of legal age? They usually wait. There's a good possibility if you like manga that you ran into these scenarios.
Anyways even if you hate the action personally I don't think it's ok to cyber bully and some of those comments feel like that to me telling someone to go die is messed up. That makes me feel like your no better than the person your criticizing.
Personally I feel like the hate comments should be directed towards the real pedo stories where a guy molests a young girl/boy or rapes and traumatizes them and then forces them to do that forever or turns them into a prostitute. There's even ones where they physically abuse them.
